Abusive parents leave their mark on their children. Abuse itself, not just by the parents
You don't necessarily have to be the one getting abused. Witnessing it can harm a child as well

I wouldn't call Brian "insane."
He did have psych problems but they did not cause insanity.
He is a musical genius though.
