Does anyone agree with me that his acting was horrible? He was flat, spoke in a monotone voice, sounded like he was reading, had no expression, etc. Compared to the other actors on the show, he seemed so flat.

Demond Wilson was SUPERB in "Sanford & Son." He and Redd Foxx had outstanding chemistry together. Their scenes were very natural.
I've watched some of Demond'111cs other work and I think he's good in those as well. -

Totally disagree! I will say that his acting in the last season became very flat but that was probably due to the writing and how they developed the character. In the first three seasons "Lamont" was very funny as he sparred with Fred over just about everything. Later he became too "cool", wearing sunshades indoors, he was more mature & agreeable to Fred. There was not nearly enough arguing between the two.But again I think this falls back on the writers, not Demond's acting skills.

I've seen way worse actors. Demond may not win any awards for his but he isn't the worst and clearly he was good enough to land his role and keep it for the length of the series.

I don't agree at all. He played Foxx's straight man very well.
And if you really think DW is the "worst actor of all time," you need to see a few Will Ferrell flicks. But not too many, else your brain might melt.
My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work. -

I have to totally agree with rjmgreen. He was always my pick for worst actor
EVER
. Just watch how many times he shoves his hands into his pockets, even when he has those little tiny ones on his vest that they don't fit into. As soon as he takes them back out he sticks them right back in. You could make a drinking game out of it and you'd get alcohol poisoning! He cannot figure out what to do with his hands. Later he started shoving them behind his back sometimes. If I was the director I would have had wardrobe sew up every one of his pockets. -

I absolutely disagree. I have loved Mr. Wilson in everything I've seen him in: "Sanford and Son", "The New Odd Couple", "Baby I'm Back" and "The Love Boat". I have always had a crush on him. I think he is so handsome. His wife is a lucky woman.

Without a doubt, and it had nothing to do with being "the straight man", he was just awful. Another commenter claimed that the show wouldn't have lasted as long as it did if his acting was so bad. One could argue the opposite, maybe the show would've lasted much longer if his acting was not so terrible. Redd Foxx obviously carried that show, it's why he walked like he had a pole in his rectum.
