Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Aileen Wuornos

Did her biological mother seem creepy to anyone else ?
I guess having given birth to someone who took the life of 7 men, would give someone a flat unemotional look, but she came off as not caring.
The asking for forgiveness seemed more like it was something to make her look good, because she took off and did not really have anything to do with her kids.

Not only did she seem to not care at all about her child, but after finding out that her execution would be soon (within two days) she only said, "I think I'll be able to sleep better". Who the hell says that knowing one of their children has been put to death?
I couldn't even begin to imagine abandoning my children like she did, but then to not even care about them dying is on a completely different level. It's definitely not an excuse for Aileen's behavior, but it's obviously a good part of the reason she turned out the way she did.

When her mother said she might sleep better at night I think she might've meant that she wouldn't have to worry about her daughter and the pain she was in anymore. I agree that she seemed a little creepy, a little out of touch with what was going on around her, but just like Aileen, this woman has probably not had the easiest of lives. It's usually not like there's one bad seed in these types of families, it's vicious circles of abuse that are very hard to break.
            I like you. You're purdy.

              The documentary
Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer
(2003) states that some believe Aileen's biological father to have actually been her grandfather; ie, she was a product of incest.
If this were the case, the mom may have had good reason to be psychologically damaged. And it might help explain why this woman took off and dropped out of sight. (Though ab16d0andoning the daughter to be raised by the same man who abused
              her
is really regrettable.to put it kindly.)
              .

But take in to account that her interview was chopped up into sound bites by the film maker.
The film maker really tried to make everyone look as if nobody cared about her.
