Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Sarah Wynter

I remember thinking way back when watching the first episode of Sex and the City , "if that girl is meant to be English, why does she sound exactly like an Australian?".
Virtually every syllable out of her mouth sounded Aussie. And I was thinking this before I even knew Sarah Wynter's nationality. I've seen some dreadful attempted accents on US TV in my time, but this has to be in the top 5.

That's funny because I wasn't aware of her until she was on 24 doing an American accent and I thought she was American. I don't remeber her in SATC but I know what you mean about accents on USTV sometimes. (I know this message is nearly a year late but hey!)

Ahh, the beauty of IMDB. You here to find something out that has baffled you or that you've noticed in a film, and you find the exact topic you were looking for, that someone else has already noticed!

This! Just started watching the pilot and the girl who is supposed to be from London sounds nothing like it. I thought she sounded Australian, we can always tell one of our own apart from a British, they sound nothing alike!

I'm with you on that! English journalist? You've got to be kidding me. WHY the mess with accents? It's annoying.

She shouldn't do accents at all. Her "American" accent is atrocious. About every third word is a dead giveaway.
