Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Anton Yelchin

the dead here on IMBD or on any thread? The dead are dead! They can't read, and if they could, would they be reading stuff they didn't read while alive? It's unhealthy to think you can channel the dead! Even if you're religious!

I don't think they believe they are communing with the dead. They're just putting it out there, to the universe If you will. When something tragic like this happens to someone you actually know you can reach out to their family and friends and share memory's of them
With celebrity deaths that is obviously impossible,so message boards can provide an outlet

Some of these are written as direct messages to the dead. If just venting, use the correct grammar. Say "he was an amazing actor, and I will miss seeing him on screen", instead of "you were amazing and I will miss you".
        See the difference?

It's the exact same as when someone you're close to passes away, and on their Facebook or Twitter, you post a "You will be missed. You were always wonderful. RIP, buddy." on their wall.
They're not trying to communicate with the dead.
My question is. Why do some people think they should comment something negative when most of us trying to say kind things? Why must you attack or belittle someone who didn't say anything bad? All they're doing is saying that Anton was talented, and that he will be missed.
          Grow. Up.
I don't feel enough for you to cry.
          Oh well.

It's fine to say "I'll miss him/her, and I think they were great". But to go on and on generating a one sided conversation with a dead person? That's unhealthy!
Why does it concern me? If you show people an obvious inner weakness, it could forge some new strength.

Well then dcoydcoy, I just want to say now instead of later after you're past away that you are an amazing poster, and I will miss seeing you on imdb.

Yes, his comments have touched me deeply and he will truly be missed once he passes to the great unknown.

                  "Past away"? Passed away, maybe?
I won't pass away, my people call it "die". I come from a people who do not fear death and have no need to lighten the meaning of death with phrases like passed away. Yes they believe in talking to the dead, and they do have several gods. But those beliefs I do not need.
