I'm a big fan of the Smiths, but I reallly want to get into Morrissey's solo work. His album catalog seems endless and I'm sure that's not including rarities and B-sides.. Can someone please guide me as to where to start? I really wanna call myself a fan, and already admire him. I almost purchased his greatest hits ( to get my feet wet) until I realized there were two! And both of them had COMPLETELY different track listings. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated:)

Viva Hate is the first and the best, so that's definitely the best place to start. Every Day Is Like Sunday and Suedehead are definitely worthy of The Smiths at their best. Fantastic album. After that, it's a bit hit and miss, though more hit than miss overall, I think.

I'd say start off with Vauxhall and I and You Are The Quarry. It's the general consensus that those are his two best and most accessible albums, plus you'll get a taste of both his mid-nineties and 2000's comeback work. After that I'd recommend Years of Refusal and definitely Bona Drag, and then carry on from there.
