A money grubbing fame whore? Thats a little much don't you think? Its his career, he can do whatever he wants with it. Just because he has accepted small roles doesn't mean he's a fame whore haha. The average viewer probably didn't even notice him in the Holiday

This is actually a highly perceptive explanation, you make excellent points. A bit harsh on Krasinski personally but I completely agree with the Jim analysis. Women tune into the Office to live through Pam, spot-on analysis and well articulated.

I do think Jim Halpert is a little bit vanilla, and it can get irritating, but at the same time, could Jim really be written any differently and be successful?
Yes. Watch the original UK Office and keep an eye on the character 'Tim Canterbury' played by Martin Freeman, to see how 'Jim' could be played differently and successfully. -

Ughthere are demonstrably hot geeky nerd-types that we know in real life, and then there are the ugly potato-nosed, wall-eyed actors that studios (stupidly, frequently) hire to pla111cy them on TV (see Topher Grace, Jim Krasinski.)

and re-write your thoughts. I am a 52 year old male, married to an Italian model who won't give me a divorce, and Four beautiful children. Take a look at that picture. That is one handsome dude. Let's see your picture, no, your real one. How stupid of People Magazine to vote him one of the sexiest men alive. Sam Mendes has used him in two of his movies. Do you realize that he works on "The Office" and doesn't have the free time most actors do to make movies. How old are you anyway?
P.S. My bad. You have to be a member just to see the picture but it's a good site, IMO, and it's worth a couple of minutes to join to see all of his stuff. -

LULZ what a bunch of tools. Well, glad all 6 of you found each other on the internet. Obviously you look too deep into the whole movie thing, trying to find more than what is there.
His character in the Office is perfect for what it is and he plays it perfectly. Same for Wilson and Carell.
Well, enjoy your little pow-wow here. Ill use a line we throw around in my core group of friends
No one cares. -

"coasterreal".You are hilarious!! I literally laughed out loud! When you said you're "glad all 6 of you found each other on the internet", you painted a picture! A 2000lovely da Vinci if you will. I was about to reply to the winners circle that is the 'Pack 6' but after reading your post, I feel you said EXACTLY what I wanted to say! The men on the Office are so delightfully funny. So yes Pack 6, we do love the Office and we love the actors. And if you think they are unfunny, NO ONE CARES! Don't watch the show! And don't post about the show or its actors!
Uninterested people do not obsess over what they are not interested in!! Simple logic folks. Do you see me posting on stupid action films? No! Why? Because I don't like them! See how that works? You don't like an actor, don't take the time to state you don't like the actor! It makes you awfully boring! -

"I think it's the smug camera reactions, the intentional goofiness, the faux earnestness."
Are you talking about the Jim character or the actor?! I don't watch the Office regularly, just when nothing else is on. It's very funny, but sometimes the drabness of it all can be a bit depressing. Like, "Thank God I'm not working in an office like that."
I find Jim's cute, quirky looks at the camera to show that he, of all the people there, represents us, and his knowing glances shows that of anyone he's the one to recognize the absurdity he's surrounded by.
At least that's my take on his goofiness. I haven't actually seen him in anything else, (guess I'll have to watch "Dreamgirls" again!). Of everyone there I can see him with a successful TV or maybe film career.
(My name is James and my eyes are blue.)
