houseaddict: You got it wrong. Many moderate, modernized Iranian Muslims themselves left Iran, escaped the Iranian Islamic Revolution because they cannot tolerate the rigid Islamic Sharia laws.
Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his family (they all Muslims) not related to Shahi family, Shah of Iran and family gone into exile the Shah of Iran was overthrown in a popular revolt in 1979 when Iranian Revolution deposed the Shah and replaced the pro-Western royal dictatorship with the largely anti-Western Islamic Republic of Iran. -

she is a Muslim. Tens of thousands of Christians escaped various religious based regimes in Europe. Catholics from Huguenots, Huguenots from Catholics. Lutherans and Catholics from Anglicans, Orthodox from Catholic, Catholic from Orthodox et etc.

Sarah Shahi may be Christian taking her Spanish mother Christian religion - strangely enough her Spanish mother having Persian name Mahmonir, therefore not sure whether her mother is a Christian or Persian Muslim.
Her father is a Muslim - descendants of Muslim Iranian king Fath Ali Shah Qajar.
Apparently Sarah Shahi is a non-practising Muslim.
Oh yeah here are her nude and scantily clad photos from Maxim

If she is in Muslim country Iran - the country where her father comes from, she be wearing hijab - head cover and long-sleeve loose-fitting clothes covering her body from head to toe. Heeheehee .
Violators wearing indecent clothes, scantily dressed or even mini-skirts can receive lashes, fines or imprisonment. -

I guess my answer was a little blurry, but I was just heading to the same conclusion as you, anna :). That she's simply not practicing islam as far as I know and it's pretty obvious considering her lifestyle and choices of participation.

From the bio, she went to Southern Methodist University. Dunno if the school disallows non-christians.
You're not required to tell them your religion in the application process. -

[Not that I think it matters, and it would hinder my enjoyment of her work in any way, but since there has been so much argument, let's settle this.]
I sorted through every one of these postswhich was a big waste of time and only a good thing to do when it's really late at night and you're half delirious, as I am nowand only two people mentioned that she went to Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
I know you technically CAN be a Muslim and go there (I knew someone who went to Liberty University while being a Muslimalthough they later converted) but it's unlikely, and not the kind of choice someone would likely make if they were very attached to their religion. The same as I don't think a serious Baptist would likely attend BYU.
Plus, Sarah chose the name "Sarah" (she was actually born with a Persian name) because apparently some girls at school were teasing her. Again, if someone were that serious about their faith, they probably wouldn't change their name (not all the time, but just think about 5b4the likeliest case scenario) and then stick with that decision as an adult.
Then she won beauty pageants and became an NFL cheerleader and then an actress on the L Word and in all that time never gave an interview where she mentioned anything about being religiousThe evidence is thin but it only flows in one direction. There's some reason to think she's not Muslim, and no reason to think she is.
My guess is that her father might have been Muslim and maybe this was a part of her life as a child, but when her parents got divorced, it just wasn't a big part of anything anymore (hence the name change, and then later the enrollment in Christian schools). This happensa divorce from the more religious parent can often lead to a divorce from that religion. -

southern Methodist, like Notre dame, Boston university, Yale, Princeton Harvard and about 1,500 colleges and universities in the US are founded by churches.
So a Bhuddist Chinese kid going to Princeto5b4n is a Christian because he or she goes there? -

Guys ..did you ever bother to watch some films from Middle East or any "Muslim" countries? some films have much more sexual scenes than hers and yes. they're by Muslim actors and actresses with Muslim directors for Muslim audience. normal moderate Islam is not what most of you think. I was born a Muslim before losing any sort of believe on any religionso I think I can judge what Islam is and isn't.

you mean not dogmatic
Do you stone your daughter to earth if she dresses immodestly as commanded in the Torah/Old testament for Jews and Christens? if not you are not religious?
Have you ever lied in your life? If so you are not religious? (sex between unmarried people is not prohibited in the ten commandments, but lying is).
