Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Katrina Kaif

    Happy_Evil_Dude — 15 years ago(October 05, 2010 01:50 PM)

In an interview with Karan Johar from January 2010 she said it's her own voice now and has been since the last 4 films. This would make it seem like everything pre-New York has another actress overdubbing her. But then on Internet there's articles from 2006 & 2007 gb68oing "Katrina Kaif does her own lines now" etc, mentioning notably Namastey London, so what's the deal? Does someone know in which films she was overdubbed by someone else and in which films she wasn't?
Drop it like it's legal precedent!

^ all these are not her voice!
She has dubbed her own voice in only 7 films so far:
      • Boom
      • Namastey London
      • Singh is Kinng
      • New York
      • Blue
      • Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Thanks man. But why the hell isn't her own voice in De Dana Dan? The film came out after New York, Blue & Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani which all have her real voice!
And seriously, I know there's a lot more to acting than the words the actor says, but how did she last six years, win awards and become a superstar by just being a physical presence in her films? Was she doing "favours" to some dirty old producer or something? It makes no sense.

I never understood that either. I actually thought she spoke fine in Singh is Kinng, yet there were a couple of films after that film's release where someone else spoke for her. And she spoke perfectly in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani so I don't know why she didn't dub her own lines for DDD. I don't think anyone will dub her lines in the future now.

The kind of awards she won are all meaningless awards. If any of the Hollywood awards were similar to the Bollywood awards then Vin Diesel would win for The Fast and the Furious and Megan Fox would win for Transformers. Let's see if she ever wins a respectable award. As for her popularity level, it's up to the audience. Majority of the people like her hence why she is a superstar.
