Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Yvette Nicole Brown

I've been a huge fan of Yvette's since I began watching Community when it aired. I always took her for a friendly, Christian woman. She was willing to converse with fans on Twitter, which was enjoyable, & said she was trying to maintain a positive, friendly place. It was lovely.
Then, this week, the Democrat National Convention aired & she tweeted positive things about that. Obviously she is entitled to her opinion & people should not respond to her tweets with rudeness or crude things. At the same time, people who disagree should be able to do so on an open forum. Yet when people responded with differing opinions or facts she blocked them from her Twitter account. I find this to be terribly rude & typically liberal. Yes, she has the right to block people but if she just blocks those who don't agree with her then she's being a small-minded bigot. I'm very disappointed in such behavior. If someone is being abusive then block away. Someone having a different opinion should be welcomed and conversed with or just ignored.
I can't say I am a fan now. I tweeted a link with some facts, nothing abusive or disrespectful, and now I am blocked. Not very nice or Christian. I'm open to discussing things but apparently she is not.

      I TOTALLY agree with you.
She has the right to block whomever she wants 😉

It's a Twitter, not a discussion forum. Posb68ting things on Twitter is public, yes, but the block is there specifically to prevent arguing with people you don't want to. Rude and "typically liberal" or not.
That said, I have noticed Yvette has a bad habit of responding back when people make remarks about her politics or anything else, as opposed to most celebrities who would simply ignore it. While it's nice to see famous people interacting with fans (I've had a few direct interactions with her, both positive and negative, though am not blocked), she does have a habit of getting into little back and forths with fans before blocking, most of which could be avoided if she just did what 98% of celebrities do and avoided arguing with fans altogether.

You may be one person wb68ho tweeted some info, but keep in mind that 1. what passes for "facts" on the internet regarding politics is laughable and 2. you may be polite but others probably did the same followed by "why won't you respond to me?" type tweets that did get abusive. Behavior like that it was causes people to start blocking at the first sign of potential problems.
Also, it's not very Christian to call someone out on their faith. Claiming the moral high ground directly contradicts the Word. Unless of course you happen to be without Sin.
