Turns out it was just an ad
      https://twitter.com/BroadlakePete/status/772356696362610688
For this brand new Irish magazine
      https://twitter.com/magpie_ie/status/771063563247030273
The guy painted the magazine cover photo. A bit disappointed it wasn't spontaneous.

I saw this article posted on
        https://twitter.com/saoirsenews
        :
        http://observer.com/2016/07/t111che-first-ever-oil-paint-animated-film-depicts-van-goghs-demise/
In the article, they state "The project will likely be finished in October and is slated for release sometime next Spring." They also state "Though the film has not yet secured a distributor, its already harnessed in big names such as Saoirse Ronan and Jerome Flynn to voice characters."
I feel they misstated that as to my knowledge, she's not just voicing the characters, but she's acting out the scenes and then the scenes are being drawn by artists as thousands of real paintings. That got me thinking since this is the first time a movie has been made this way, do you think this type of movie could still garner acting nominations?
I'd like to think the Academy and other awards organizations would consider the performances behind the paintings, even though the performances have been translated to paint.
Edit: Probably just wishful thinking on my part. Still, I'm interested to hear what others think.

I hadn't given that question any thought before, but considering the academy's refusal to acknowledge Andy Serkis' "performance capture" work, I'm not holding out hope about them truly considering the performances in the upcoming film.
Too bad the producers can't have everything in place for a late winter 2016 release.

It's definitely a strange middle ground. Saoirse has probably delivered another excellent acting performance. Feels like it would be a shame for there to be no way to recognize it thru a nomination of some sort if she were to hit it out of the park. And not just the opportunity to recognize Saoirse's work, but that of the other actors in the movie as well. Of course, I suppose part of it will depend on how well we can see the acting performances mirrored in the paintings. Can't wait to see this movie
            .
Like your mention of Andy Serkis not being recognized for his work in Lord of the Rings, the movie Avatar was nominated for almost everything but acting by the Oscars. Other lesser awards recognized the acting, but the Oscars chose not to. I can see the use of motion-capture becoming more popular as the technology and technique improves. In the end, acting is acting no matter how it gets to the screen, so hopefully the Oscars will eventually acknowledge this form of the art as well.

I would have responded sooner, but there was some major issue that knocked out the board earlier today.
In any event, like everyone else, I'm curious about how the painting overlays obscures the acting or if the performances really pop despite the unusual methodology in this upcoming film. I hope they don't consider the performances as simply voice work.

I don't know what this is, but I've never seen it before and I'm wondering if it's Saoirse in Lady Bird:

I forgot to post this, but last Friday night, Saoirse was mentioned during Jeopardy! She was part of a question about the Crucible play. I dont remember the exact question but they asked about the location (Salem being the answer). They showed one of her on-stage photos. (And thankfully Alex Trebek pronounced her name right.)

Perhaps a little bit of detail about Lady Bird will be revealed in the near future.

Yes, here is an article about it:
Lights, camera, action: Hollywood star in Sacramento this week shooting new film
Actress and screenwriter Greta Gerwig is making her directorial debut with the Sacramento-set film Lady Bird.
Sacramentos Fabulous Forties neighborhood hosts the production of Lady Bird on Oct. 6, 2016.
Lady Bird, the feature-film directing debut of actress, screenwriter and Sacramento native Greta Gerwig, shot on location in East Sacramento on Thursday morning.
The shoot involved interior scenes in a white house in the Fabulous Forties. According to Sue Sheehan, who lives the same block as the filming site, the scenes depicted a Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was supplied by Corti Bros., she said.
Other neighbors and what appeared to be extras dressed in preppy-style clothing milled about outside the house as a crew member yelled, Rolling! The windows of the room in which the filming took place were whited out.
Lady Bird, a Sacramento-set coming-of-age film starring Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) as a fictional high school senior, is expected to shoot at various locations in the region during the next few days.
Gerwig, a St. Francis High School graduate, told The Sacramento Bee earlier this year that she had wanted to shoot the whole film, which she also wrote, in her hometown. But she did not get the California state tax credit for which she applied.
Those scenes being shot here seem to go well beyond the usual breeze-by establishing shots done by most productions centered elsewhere. Equipment trucks and wh7ecat looked like talent trailers lined a few blocks of East Sacramento on Thursday morning.
Sacramento Film Commissioner Lucy Steffens told The Bee via email last week that we are looking forward to Lady Bird filming in Sacramento. She did specify days or times and wrote that the production is not doing any press at this time.
The production initially discussed going to El Dorado County as well, said Kathleen Dodge, who heads the film office there. But plans since had shifted and Dodge was not sure if that still was going to happen.
Gerwig also shot part of Frances Ha, the 2013 film in which she starred (and co-wrote with the films director, Noah Baumbach), in Sacramento.
                                    Carla Meyer:
                                    916-321-1118, @CarlaMeyerSB
This is from The Sacramento Bee.
