Yeah that's from the short period between Money Ball and 21 Jump Street when he had lost weight.
Now, I'm not aware of his discussing his temporary weight loss at any length, but I wonder if his motivation to lose weight in the first place was actually to improve his health or perhaps the notion that he might get more/varying roles in movies. (Talk on the interwebs at the time as superficial/baseless as it is was that he wasn't as funny thin as he was fat.) And since then he has regained the weight (but perhaps not all of weight based on his recent appearances.) So I again wonder if he is making a conscious choice to appear overweight to "fit" his cast-type (is that right use of the term?) -

seth rogan did the same thing, lost weight. they are one and the same to me. they play the same roles, act the same, have the same, sarcastic sense of humor but mostly they remind me of each other because they were both in the same movie, superbad that really skyrocketed both of their careers.

I was wondering the same thing. I am glad there was already a topic about it & that someone knew the answer. Just tragic that he gained weight cos in that pic you can see that he is otherwise quite a handsome & good looking man.
