Thanks so much for the i5b4nspiring link. Brit Marling is truly one of a kind and that academy award is within reach for her but only if she wants it. What an enigmatic persona; you can spend hours pondering what motivates this brilliant woman.

Brit Marling is a fascinating person. When I hear her speak, I think she may be the voice of a generation, and even of generations to come. She manages to articulate an ethos for the generation of 20-somethings better than any public figure today. Not only does she speak it, she accomplishes it. "It" being the creation of new, revolutionary paradigms in art and film.
I've heard her say in one interview, that she wanted to become an actress, but there were no roles outside the norm for women in Hollywood. So, she learned how so become a screen writer, and wrote her own films, and a brilliant screen writer she became.
"Another Earth" touched me deeply, and I consider it to one of the best films of the last five years.
As far as Academy Awards go, I think her film is too far outside the mainstream, or even viewed as subversive by the mainstream. But then again, somebody as talented as Marling may have the ability to change the "mainstream".
Its so much better to think of her as the voice of a generation than Lena Dunham.

One of the most original talents to hit Hollywood ever. She has a natural ability as an actress that can earn her a number of significant roles in mainstream films (or independent if that is her choice). What an inspiration and role model for the future.

Wow, thanks for posting this. She's so magnetic and talented! And I'm glad to know a little more about Zal and Mike! She needs to keep working with them as much as she can because their films just keep getting better and better!

If anyone else is interested in an excellent, young, filmmaker, I suggest you look up Evan Godell.

His film, 'Bellflower,' was made with pure heart. -

wow you people are all salivating over this woman who a)isnt a very good actress and b)isnt a very good writer
I think people get caught up in people being "versatile" and get impressed about that alone. Happens all the time in sports "oh he can throw and run, he's great" and then 4 years later you think "wow he isnt really all that special at all" -
