How Tesla shifts Profits across Europe – and avoids Taxes
The US-American car manufacturer minimizes its tax burden in Europe
through internal contracting and subsidiaries in Switzerland.
Tesla in Grünheide/Germany near Berlin supplies the company in the Netherlands.
Last January, Tesla came under the scrutiny of the US tax authorities when the
Thinktank Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy
revealed that the company paid no federal income tax in 2024 despite generating billions in revenue. The company's largest Dutch subsidiary, Tesla Motors Netherlands (TMN), also consistently generated profits since its founding in 2011. Through tactical cooperation with the plant in Grünheide near Berlin, neither the German nor the Dutch companies paid taxes commensurate with their revenue.
    ….
    ….
Many Tesla models are technically products of the Dutch company in Amsterdam Zuidoost, would be manufactured in the so-called Gigafactory in Grünheide in the German state of Brandenburg.
This factory opened in 2022 and was touted as an economic opportunity for eastern Germany.
While environmental activists criticized the project from the outset due to the deforestation, general public opinion also cooled over time, due to the treatment of employees and, not least, Elon Musk's political escapades.
    ….
    ….
Tesla Sales in Europe fell by Half
    ….
    ….
    Extremely Opaque
Tesla's corporate structure is not only opaque but also constantly changing, according to FTM.
Most recently, on New Year's Eve 2024, all shares of the seven Tesla companies in the Netherlands were transferred from the
    Tesla Motors Stichting Foundation
    to
    VESPB Global GmbH
, which was founded just three days earlier and is based in Switzerland. According to tax experts, the relocation could potentially lead to Tesla's profits in the Netherlands flowing to Switzerland, where the corporate tax rate is only 11.8%.
According to van de Streek, we have to accept the fact
"that we will probably never know what's going on,"
since corporate tax data is confidential in the Netherlands.

There are ways to find out.
For example, an official request from Germany to the Netherlands.
    But maybe
    'some people'
don't want to know that in detail.

Record Crash for Tesla in Dispute between Trump and Musk
The dispute between Elon Musk and Donald Trump is escalating, including mutual threats.
This caused Tesla shares to plummet on Thursday, dropping by more than 14%,
equivalent to $153 billion in market capitalization.
End of a bromance: POTUS Donald Trump with former advisor Elon Musk, in March 2025.
The escalating confrontation between Donald Trump (78) and tech billionaire Elon Musk (53) caused Tesla's shares to plummet to their lowest level ever in a single day on Thursday. The electric car manufacturer's shares plunged by more than 14% to just under $285. The company thus lost approximately €153 billion of its market capitalization within a single day – a record low. Since the beginning of the year, the value already fell by 29.5%.
      ….
      ….
      Mutual Threats
Trump openly threatened financial consequences for Musk's company.
"The easiest way to save billions and billions of dollars in our budget is to cancel Elon's government subsidies and contracts,"
      Trump wrote.
Trump had always wondered why his predecessor, Joe Biden (82), hadn't done so.
Musk hit back at X shortly afterwards:
"Without me, Trump would have lost the election,"
      he ranted.
He donated more than $250 million to Trump's campaign during the election campaign.
      Musk added:
      "Such ingratitude."
In response to the threat that his companies would be stripped of government contracts, he threatened that he would immediately begin decommissioning SpaceX's Dragon space shuttle.
The vehicle is operating on behalf of NASA.
And Musk also threatened Trump personally. He claimed that Trump's name appeared in documents relating to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in a New York prison in 2019.
"That's the real reason they haven't been released,"
he wrote. The world's richest man didn't provide any evidence for this. But he apparently had extensive access to documents during his time as head of the
      Doge Commission
for the US government. He also claimed to be aware of Trump's financial holdings in his corporate network.
      Musk openly threatened:
"It's time to drop the really big bomb."

Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide is not profitable
Twice as many cars could be produced, but the Gigafactory near Berlin produces significantly less.
The company cites delivery stoppages, but apparently there are other problems as well.

            I've no idea what these
            "other problems"
            could be. 🤥
