When I say "via" I mean other 3rd party sites you can access from Prime, like the Showtime trial…. basically anything free.
"Old Gems" defined as great movies from the 1930-70s that didn't get much attention, but are still great. There are some very great movies that have less than 1,000 votes on IMDB for example (think I started a thread like that on the General movie page).
TCM has their "Underground" series on Tuesday after midnight (I think)…. They have some great independent, foreign, low-budget, etc.. I found some really great movies from that series. Unfortunately, everything else on TCM are movies I've already seen, or musicals I'll never watch

I tried Showtime, HBO, and Cinemax free trials recently and their selection of "classic" movies was pretty sparse. Those probably don't bring in subscribers. A long time ago Hulu had a Criterion channel but that split off to a separate streaming service. You can get a two-week free trial.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't have the Criterion channel.
I guess those free trials are free for a reason!
