Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Classic Film

    MiketheMechanic — 9 years ago(February 03, 2017 03:00 PM)

I've been active since 2004 as zeldafan but was a lurker for about a year or so, highly intimidated when I first started to post, annoying as heck to some of the core posters but eventually found a place here at the CFB.
And have met some of the most knowledgeable and entertaining film buffs one can ever hope to be assembled on any message board, perhaps the finest of its kind!
Looking back, there have been many, many great memories. Who can forget Strelnikoff? Anjune? MeQ? And clore, perhaps the most knowledgeable, wisest and most humble poster I've ever had the pleasure of conversing with about classic films.
All of you have taught me so much and I'll be forever grateful!!

mike - yes happy days indeed - i loved Strelnikoff
thanks for reminding me - his response to the OP question IS BENJAMIN BUTTON A CLASSIC MOVIE? may be the funniest post I read in my time here - although Addy's "lost" song from CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and Ellen/Marsha on Jayne Mansfield in the running
      Favourite Memories?
Threads - The BEST OF YEAR ballots, WCDYSLA ; the "appreciations"(Mike, Addy, Maddy Oleg etc thank you all! ) Trevoracleas reviews of movies far more entertaining than the movies themselvesand Binx' SLEEPER/KEEPER/SANK NO DEEPERS
Poster .LuciaHarper was wise and witty beyond belief
Thread title WHEN WAS ERIC BLORE AT HIS MOST BEAUTIFUL? a very popular thread too!
Best ungodly self referencing bitchfight - Oh RICE-A -RONI-GATE for sure

Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents and everyone is writing a book

              can
participate as I just posted that question on

How about ILoveWater, the Natalie Wood fan who would claim an actress was old, even if she was only two months older than another actress? Makes you wonder how young she had to have been to reason like that. Dizexpat used to have so much fun with her.

To bring back another long-missed name -
                    kerpan
                    who introduced me to
                    Take Care of My Cat
and directly influenced my greater interest in Asian cinema. And one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people here, along with many of the afore-named folks.
Here's to the fools who dream

                        Hi Mike,
There have been some really good times on this board (I'm trying to erase the bad times from memory.)
Like you, I too have learnt a great deal about film, and received some fantastic recommendations from members here. I'll always be thankful for that.
                        I miss LuciaHarper and strelnikoff.
All the best to you in the future.

                          Hi Maddy,
Thanks so much!! You are and have always been a fantastic, classy and well-versed person whom I admire greatly and I hope we can continue to contribute our mutual interest in classic film on the IMDB v2.0 board or on another forum.
                          Cheers to you!!

Some of those you mention are still around. Not Lucia Harper and her red carpet, or Sh (now GiaJake), unfortunately. Two fine ladies and good posters.
Someone told me on a PM that Strelnikoff had a serious legal problem and deleted his account and just left. Maybe he is in Brazil now 😉 His quarrels with other posters were memorable.
                            I never met Anjune
but I see continuous references to him or her, most of them very negative.
If there had been elections for Chairman and Chief Moderator of the Classic Film Board, I would have voted for Telegonus without the slightest doubt. Clore as Deputy and Chief Archivist. Hobnob53 as Editor-in-chief.

I came to Imdb in 2003 and have been posting on a variety of boards. My home was the Sandbox and now the Watercooler and the Food & Drink board. I have been popping in on this board off and on since I first joined and I've loved every single interaction with the posters here.
My knowledge of movies has increased so much because of everyone here. Thank you for always being kind and nice especially when I didn't know what I was talking about..Lol! Good luck to everyone and may you all have the best in your lives to come.
