I shouldn't have said the criticisms against Millie's image are all unfair, because I think people have a point in seeing her photoshoots as problematic, and maybe the way she is made to look older on the red carpet, though at least there she looks classier. But of course she tries to act older than her age! She is naturally mature, which is fine, and on top of that has been pressured into saving her family from bankruptcy since she was 8! She has not been raised or treated the way a child should be treated because it sounds like her father looks at her and sees only dollar signs.
I just find it frustrating when people attack her character. I loved her performance in the show and I'm not surprised almost everyone else did too but it is a shame that the media and everyone went THIS crazy over her. Because her father and management have had her everywhere and of course people are going to get tired of hype and then turn to being judgmental and hateful. Just because from everything I have seen, Millie is a genuinely sweet person who treats her fans very kindly, but who just happened to get famous very fast. I could honestly provide multiple examples of interviews where she has shown a very grounded response to being praised but OP if you see this you're gonna have to take my word for it because that is a lot of effort haha.
If people really find her personality that annoying, I think 5b4they should just not look at her videos and find something else to do. Your annoyance should be aimed at Millie's parents and managers, not at Millie herself. What happened to her on Instagram the other day was terrible. People were saying all these awful things to her and she was trying to respond to them in a polite way to show it wasn't bothering her but they just were relentless. -

When it's not Millie it's her father. So you guys really need someone to hate or criticize, even if you don't know the person AT ALL. It's ridiculous. -

I do appreciate your wanting to stand up for anyone being attacked. That is commendable. However, this sub-thread, off the main 'hate' post, is about what Millie said on the Ellen show and how she was treated regarding her Instagram post. I don't think she was lying.
This was the first time I've heard 'her' mention what she was actually told.
She has spoken about feeling that she had failed her family and that their losing everything 'again' was '
her faul
t'.
Never, ever, should a child so young feel that way about herself.

Things are always more complex. You can't judge someone and the story of a whole family knowing so little.
First why blame her father for this "feeling"? She say herself that SHE wanted to go to LA to become an actress, they moved right away to help her reached her dream, of course the situation is difficult, but why instantly see the father as the bad guy? How do you know he wasn't very kind and supportive?
I remember Millie saying he was, and I read an interview of him (the only one I think, just a few words) where I liked what he said about Millie and the fact she shouldn't work too much etc. It's also him who doesn't want that she go further into music business before reaching 16. If the only thing important for him was money, he wouldn't care, I'm sure she can win a lot of money with music too.
And for the thing Millie said on Ellen, you just can't define someone from only one phrase. Even more repeated by someone else, four years later. If I did that with you and start calling you an ass* everywhere because one thing you said that I find wrong four years ago, I'm sure you would find that unfair and stupid. -

You are right, I don't fully know the situation and at first when Millie's father demanded $100,000 from agencies up front I thought it was unfair that people were attacking him when he said that he only did that because he received bad advice. I also can see that it is obviously not a case where he is forcing her to act when she doesn't want to because she loves acting and performing.
It's just some of the things she has said I've found worrisome, that thing on Ellen being particularly startling. Even before that when Millie said their family ran out of money because she hadn't yet gotten her big break: "I was devastated. I wasn't getting work. I thought I was done." It just seems obvious to me that they put a ton of pressure on her to "save" them with her talent when nothing is guaranteed in Hollywood no matter how talented you are. Even if they moved there 5b4at first because she wanted to, she must have quickly found out that it's not as easy as it seems, because she was rejected many times as all new aspiring actors are. And while rejection is fine and healthy and a part of growing up, it is maybe not so healthy when your family goes broke in front of your eyes at age 11 because you didn't get the part
She does seem to be happy with her siblings and family and I sincerely hope that she is. I hope that her parents are supportive of her going forward and she avoids going off the rails like so many child stars because her talent is extremely promising. It is just my opinion that the last few years were probably pretty hard for her with the pressure put on, and I really hate to see people being so critical of her as a person when she is not even yet 13. -

Yeah and a lot of people never read this response, so they still have a bad opinion about him based only on that. It's really easy to give someone a reputation on internet.

I don't know, maybe, maybe not. Maybe Millie is the kind of person who puts herself a lot of pressure. It's probably the case, she said she is still very nervous in audition even after Stranger Things (which means she had auditions since I wonder for what) but of course the family situation surely didn't help, but they're british and didn't live in LA, so it's not their fault either.

Well she had her big break, probably more than she ever dreamed (the vast majority of young actors never have a big break), have millions of fans, a ton of work propositions, they will not ran out of money anymore, she seem happy and has everything. So, I don't see any reason to be worried now.
