    Eureka
    (1983). Spoiler alert:
Gene Hackman's character encounters some strange guy who proceeds to blow his brains out with a revolver.

Saving Private Ryan. I'd always heard it was a difficult movie to watch, but goddamn. I wasn't expecting an opening quite so brutal.

            Basic Instinct - '92
didn't waste any time getting to the shock value in the opening sequence.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

              I can only think of
              Jaws
              .
To this day, I fast forward to the next scene after she gets in the water.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
That explosion right at the beginning actually made me jump (talk about starting things off with a bang).

For me it is the opening scene oof the original Halloween. Today, a brother killing his sister is not all that unusual, especially if you are a liberal, but when I first watched it as a kid, it was unthinkable. Thanks to liberals, we have progressed as a nation.
