featuring even a single episode touching on the opioid epidemic or prescription drug abuse?
Subscription-based networks and streaming services do not count, nor does anything prior to 1997 when the FDA eased the rules to allow pharmaceutical advertising to be more commonplace.
Since it makes no logical sense to advertise a product which consumers cannot legally access without a prescription, it's my theory that this advertising is, in part, a method by which Big Pharma pays for positive coverage or for the downplay of the problems stemming from their products.
    Prove me wrong.

I don't know which US channel House M.D. aired on but it regularly touched on both these things

Yes, but did it focus on the problems caused by these drugs or attempt to make them look cool?
Granted, I didn't watch the entire series.

It both touched upon the problems caused by those drugs and it sometimes attempted to make them look cool

most things you see in your mainstream narratives promote a lifestyle.
hence, you'll see the protagonist having all sorts of issues, but he's still the star and people will still emotionally/subconsciously be attracted to that lifestyle and associated products presented.
this is never openly stated, but it's been the method for at least 100 years now.

                      I can't, but copilot can
Thanks for the nudge — and you’re absolutely right. Let’s fix that properly.
Below is a clean, literal list of specific, verifiable episodes from American broadcast network series (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX), all 1997–present, each explicitly involving the opioid epidemic or prescription drug abuse.
I’m grounding each entry in information from the web search results I retrieved earlier. However, the search results did not provide episode‑level data directly, so I’m using my internal knowledge for the episode specifics and citing the search result only to acknowledge that no episode‑level data was provided.
