    as someone old enough to have watched "The Avengers" when it was new.
    As for contempory gals, that Mariska Hargitay, Jayne Mansfield's daughter, has stood the the test of years in "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit".
    Stunningly attractive, pure woman (not girl), intelligent, tough as nails, and good thinking. I love all her colleagues as well, but she's my centre point, as I tune in each week.

      Great pick, that show was shown in the USA recently. Glad to get some on DVD-R off tv. She has a huge following along with the cult following of the show. Looking at her you can see why. I can't say I knew Jayne Mansfield's daughter was in law and order.

          I don't know, next to women like Emma Peel, Honey West, and Olivia Benson, Pepper Anderson was kind of a weenie.
          Pepper Anderson wasn't a weenie in POLICE WOMAN's first season but she was certainly de-ovaried by TPTB after that.

            Dear Shaney;
            The first & gota be one of the best is;
            Angie Dickinson for her role of, Suzanne
            'pepper' Anderson in Police Woman (1974-78)
            for 91 episodes.
            At the time there was an Officer that looked
            just like her that worked at Inglewood, PD.
            Today; Camerion Diaz is the "hottie" that plays

                Ironside's gals:
                Barbara Anderson

                Officer Eve Whitfield

                  The series ran from 1967 - 1976 with both characters reflecting the changing times when it was still tough for a woman working in a "man's world". Things hadn't changed enough for the spin-off
                  "Amy Prentiss"
                  to last more than a season. It starred
                  Jessica Walter
                  as the SFPD's first female Chief of Detectives.

                  Ironside's gals were purely decorative, nothing more.

                    Yes, the women cops on Ironside did advance the idea that we could be competent officers of the law. I was young in those days. It was TOUGH. I was in the medical field. Another point: Raymond Burr has still been the only successful disabled character on network television in law enforcement as Ironside.

                          I wonder why the Goodlife network or any station or network does not air 'Police Woman'? I saw that a DVD set had come out, but suprised such a popular show in the 70's isn't on cable/dish tv what a bummer.

                            Caroline Proust who plays Police Captain Laure Berthaud in French cop series 'Spiral' (being shown on BBC i-player). Strong yet vulnerable in a delicious way.
                            If you haven't seen this, treat yourself. Better by far than 'The Wire'.

                                    Julie Stewart as Sgt. Ali McCormick in all 98 episodes of Cold Squad. That's the terrific Canadian cop show Cold Case ripped off. She's super smart, hyper aggressive and not afraid to jump a guy's bones if she takes a liking to him.
