The Poseidon Adventure
which is terrific.
As with nearly every decade of the 70's, some top films from '72 and I rate it as the best film of the year. Who wouldn't rather watch TPA over the stuffy, (like Brando's cheeks)
The Godfather?

TPA for sure. I like the genre overall, but TTI may be my least favorite entry. It's too long and there is something mean-spirited and cynical about the whole thing.
Jennifer Jones' death is unnecessarily awful and Susan Flannery & Robert Wagner's death scenes are even worse.

TTI has not aged well at all. TPA is older, but it still retains the same charm and adventure that the film promised and delivered in spades, the characters and script are better and TTI is just stuffy and nasty.
Even
Airport
'75, '77 and
Earthquake- '74, are more enjoyable.

I love "Airport 1975". Leonard Maltin hit the nail on the head when he commented on the "Hollywood Squares type cast". That is part of this movie's charm. I love all the build up with the characters' back stories. Just so much fun! All of the disaster movies had this element, but none pulled it off so entertainingly as this entry.
All that aside, Karen Black gives a good performance. Aside from "Trilogy of Terror", I think this is her most memorable role.
There is a whole book on the 7O's disaster genre. It's titled
The Stewardess is Flying the Plane!

They just have to call Soops. For those of you not as buddy-buddy with him as I, that's Superman. He'd lift up the building by only a small corner and yet somehow it would be able to support the entire rest of the building without crumbling a few feet from Soops hands. Then he'd throw it at the boat. Simple.

…Superman. He'd lift up the building… Then he'd throw it at the boat.
I was picturing the skyscraper floating on the water, it catches fire, turns upside down and that puts the fire out.
Now you wanna bring in Soopy for a third movie mashup?
OK then.
