        I loved it. I only hated that the fight between Maximus and Commodus was so anticlimactic. But this movie was Russell Crowe at his peak. People tend to forget he had a stretch of great performances where he was clearly the best actor in Hollywood In the early 2000s.
        Joaquin Phoenix did a great job in making you despise his character, the quintessence of a good villain.

                    I liked it, despite how Maximus ended up dying in the end due to his opponent taking a cheap shot at him before the fight the increase his chances at winning. Russell Crowe’s portrayal of Maximus felt authentic and very emotional.
