first of all jason isn't really scary in part 2 or part 3 either, so it's not like there is a big drop off from part 3 to the final chapter. that's the first point.
He was scary for me when I first saw those films at a young age esp. that scene in Part 3 where an unmasked Jason charges out of the house while helpless Chris (Dana Kimmell) sits in the canoe unable to move.
you are not being accurate with saying he's not scary in the final chapter, and isn't mysterious and he doesn't have mystique in this film bc he has all these qualities just not as much as in part 2 and part 3.
Meh, he used up all of his "mystique" in the first three films. There was nothing mysterious about him anymore in The Final Chapter except that he came back to life in the hospital morgue (and my eyes are still rolling over that one!)
only chick you liked in that film???
Yep, the others weren't my type!
but with the hot mom of tommy jarvis and trish you never are given an explanation of what happened to her exactly like the tall, nerdy, redheaded guy in part 2.
It's assumed that she was killed by Jason. The tall nerdy guy in Part 2 (Ted) survived because he stayed at the bar and hopefully shagged the barmaid at her place later on that night. There's no indication that he ever went back to the camp.
also why do you not call part 8 insipid if it's just like part 5, 6 and 7 in the slasher formula of a killer stalking and slashing young adults and adults systematically?
It was more of a straight up horror comedy, that's why. It didn't take itself seriously at all.
i absolutely love that you know that amazingly great song from devo which goes, "we're through being cool." this is one of the best songs ever made. creatively, lyrically, culturally, and musically.
do you love devo? i guess yes bc you love oingo boingo who is a very similar band to devo.
Yes, that is a great song!
Yes, I love Devo. Been a fan since childhood. I only like Oingo Boingo though.

who is your favorite final girl in this series: ginny from part 2? alice from part 1? chris from part 3? trish from part 4? tina from part 7? maybe another final girl i didn't mention?
what was the main reason you liked this series? jason? or the setup, with it being on a camp or in the woods and the slasher formula? my favorite part of this series is the lively, lovable, and charismatic, special with their personalities characters other than jason.
ok so you thought it was stupid how he was brought back to life in a morgue somehow, is that bc they never explained how he didn't die at the end of part 3 or bc they never explained how he came back to life in part 4?
i mean they had to bring him back in part 4 somehow so why not have him come back in his morgue? that's the best place for him to bring himself to after what happened to him at the end of part 3, maybe he was just knocked unconscious at the end of part 3?
that song, that goes "we're through being cool" is in the movie heavy metal(1981). it's such a great film. it's animated, adult in situations, legitimate film. it has a lot of really out there and really cool imagery of mystical magical medieval like characters in futuristic settings. it is very well made.
and it has a great soundtrack from great rock bands of the '70s and '80s. it really is something you have to watch bc its like nothing you've ever seen before. its' ground breaking in it's visuals. oh and devo is in it, in their animated version in a bar scene playing this song
      have you ever watched it?
oingo boingo doesn't have the amount of great songs that devo has. my favorite oingo boingo song is the song that goes "nothing bad ever happens to me." have you ever listened to this song? one of my favorite songs from this band is the song that goes "it's a dead man's party, who could ask for more." have you ever listened to this song?

Jason and his backstory. Also, the woods and creepy atmosphere of the first three films.
ok so you thought it was stupid how he was brought back to life in a morgue somehow, is that bc they never explained how he didn't die at the end of part 3 or bc they never explained how he came back to life in part 4?
Because they never explained how he came back to life.
maybe he was just knocked unconscious at the end of part 3?
He had an axe through his skull. He was pronounced dead or else he wouldn't have been in the morgue.

I've heard of the film and actually remember when it came out but I've never seen it.
"Through Being Cool" also appears on Devo's New Traditionalists LP (1981), it's one of the band's classic albums. The album also includes "Jerkin' Back n' Forth", "Going Under" and "Beautiful World" (a song with a very dark message, actually) - all are great Devo songs.
This song is just too cool:
and then there's this glorious song:

My favorite Oingo Boingo song is "Only a Lad". Not sure if I've heard either of those other songs. I have their first album (Only a Lad) but that's it; anything after the first LP I'm not that familiar with.

oh wow, she's my favorite final girl of this series also. so we finally have something in common as far as the friday the 13th movie series yes!
is part 3 your favorite movie in this series? what about part 1 and part 2? how are the first 3 films listed/ranked as far as in order of love from you? i noticed these 3 films are your favorite films in this series and the only ones you love.
did you have a problem with jason not being in part 5? i never did bc even though he wasn't jason he looked like jason, with his hockey mask on and he killed people in the same ways as jason and some of the best ways in this series.
so he was good enough to be jason to me, i didn't have any problem with him being the killer and jason not being the killer or him wearing jason's mask or him being an imposter jason.
this film has some of the best kills in this series. which means they are highly creative, unique, and very cool looking.
you see for me jason wasn't my favorite part of this series in fact he was my least favorite character in this series, less loved by me than every character in this series.
now my friend has always had a problem with him not being jason and also he didn't have a problem with jason not being shown killing people in jason goes to hell. whereas i always have had a big problem with never seeing jason kill anyone in jason goes to hell. so for me i have to see jason or someone who looks like jason kill people in a friday the 13th film whereas my friend doesn't.
ok, are you living in fairy tale land or a disbelieving, denial world that doesn't follow the laws of logic and reality? everyone who watches slasher movies from the '80s on knows that there is a formula and rules about the villain that doesn't follow the laws of reality.
one of the laws is the villain no matter how dead they seem in a movie can always come back to life in the next movie without any explanation that makes sense in the real world. also it's really hard to kill the villain in a slasher movie which is another non reality following rule. also they might seem dead at the end of the movie but they will then not be dead, this is another rule.
so what happened to you when watching all the f the 13th movies after part 3? did you not know back then about any of these rules?
is that why you could never get past these things happening with jason, bringing him back to life for instance

you could never accept these things happening bc of you not knowing about any of these rules of slasher movies the first time you watched all the films in this series?
when i saw them, devo in that first pic you put on here they reminded me of guys in the 1950s bc of their hairstyles. so i wonder did they pattern themselves after guys in the 1950s even though they didn't make music in the 1950s?
also the '50s theme came to my mind when i saw that pic of that, it looks like 1950s burlesque girl in the video link you put on here. she looks like betty page. whom i love more than almost any girl ever. so i wonder if one of their aesthetic was the 1950s aesthetic?
devo never got the credit they deserved. they were way ahead of their time back in the 1980s. i think of bands nowadays that totally ripped them off like nerd and daft punk and countless other alternative bands over the past 20 years.
i loved in the bit in the behind the music about "werid al" yankovic where mark mothersbaugh said about weird al's tribute song to devo, "dare to be stupid," "i wish i had been the one to make that song." so awesome, it's genius recognizing genius.
it's such a justice that their most famous song, "whip it" is possibly their worst song." bc pop music is clueless when it comes to what songs end up being "important" songs only bc they deem them important. out of all the devo songs i've ever heard that is the worst song. it's way too pop song sounding and way too simple to be that good of a song.
i love the song "beautiful world." yeah it's weird that it's called "beautiful world" and that it has such am upbeat sound bc yes, you're right the lyrics are very depressing and bleak sounding.
the part that really speaks to me in my so far miserable bc i've never had a girlfriend at 43 now life, is the part that goes "it's a beautiful world we live in, for you, not me." this speaks to me bc it's a beautiful world for other guys who have had a girlfriend but not me bc i've never had a girlfriend.

Maybe not…or maybe I was expecting something different. Part 5 at least had the impostor Jason. I dunno…maybe they could have had different killers in all of the other sequels.
In any case, I would've been fine with them just ending the series after Part 3.

Devo was making fun of Reagan and Reagan era America with their "New Traditionalist" getups. The Fifties were often seen as a time of innocence and economic prosperity. Reagan's conservative policies hearkened back to the Fifties (fake innocence, anti-Communism, Christianity, "Mom, home and apple pie", etc). Also, Reagan wore his hair like that too.

Do you remember the user Yakko? You have some things in common with him. He would always go on about never having a girlfriend and he was big horror movie fan as well. I miss that guy.

wish you would have told me about yakko a long time ago when he was on here bc then we could have connected in our misery of being girlfriend less our whole lives and gotten joy from our shared misery and hatred of girls.

did you have a problem with jason goes to hell not having jason killing people in his body?
nothing to say about betty page? do you not know whom she is?
wish you would have told me about yakko a long time ago when he was on here bc then we could have connected in our misery of being girlfriend less our whole lives and gotten joy from our shared misery and hatred of girls.

No problem with the premise. Shitty movie though.

I guess not. Of course I know who she is. BTW, Yakko is a big fan of Page.

you just don't get it. you don't understand or appreciate the enormity and specialness of jason goes to hell. this was the first film in this series in 4 years! it was a big deal. and it was the same producer of the original film, sean s. cunningham finally coming back to his beloved series and character and franchise.
this film meant the world to all fans of this series. it was a love letter to all the fans of this series bc of it's self referential lines and the trailer was so iconic and special bc it showed all these people who in the tradition of this series were going to get killed by jason(well we all though this anyway sadly it wasn't which is the worst part of this film.
the fact that it wasn't jason it was the soul of jason inhabiting the bodies of people who then killed people). it was a reunion with cunningham and it was the series coming full circle and coming to an end it looked like bc of the title.
now i have big problems with this film bc of the fact that we never saw jason kill anyone and he never really did and the body snatching idea was wrong for friday the 13th film but the beginning wtih jason and the fbi agents blowing him up was so epic and legendary i mean this is like what they would do at the end of a friday the 13th film with jason getting killed.
at a level of makeup effects and violence that we've never seen in a friday the 13th film, it was the ultimate scene, problem is it was at the beginning of the film not the end, it should have been the end of the film. but it still is awesome and very exciting.
also the ending is so epically great and so masterful with the action, makeup effects and ideas and visual effects. it is breathtaking and the perfect and best way to end this series. it's also magical with the sword and how he was drug down below the earth and into hell.
also if they can bring back jason as a zombie then nothing is out of bounds in terms of magical things so it was fine and realistic that they had body snatching and the magical sword and his heart being eaten by the guy and it doing something magical to the guy.
i love the idea of jason's heart being magically evil. i think that was a really creative and fresh idea.
i love the main character played by john d. lemay, who was on friday the 13th the series which is amazing and so awesome that he was on this series and in jason goes to hell. that casting choice was a nod to the fans of this movie series and the tv show.
also i love duke creighton played by steven williams who was in a film directed by friday the 13th part 2 and part 3's director steve miner titled house. which also has stunt work by future jason actor kane hodder who is in this film as jason. all these things together are so cool! i also love the cameo at the beginning by kane hodder, that was really cool and really unexpected and clever bc he played 2 characters in this film.
both jon d. lemay's character and duke creighton were such a great team and odd couple in this film with their vastly different personalities that they made this film great and without their characters this film would have been bad.
i love the line something like, "we're going to have sex and smoke pot." the winking to the conventions of these films way before scream by the way. so this film is way ahead of it's time in this way.
i also love the extremely graphic and explicit even when compared to the graphicness of the sex scenes in this film series scene in the tent, now that is a hot scene. it seemed so realistic and natural.
if you know who she is then how can you not comment on her? she is a legend and one of the most important people in the history of the entertainment industry.
her allure is beyond anything any girl ever created or had. she is a fashion and style icon whose completely original image inspired and influenced countless girls over the last 60 years. she remains to this day one of the most naturally beautiful and hottest girls of all time. up there with brigitte bardot, sophia loren, raquel welch, jayne mansfield, claudia cardinale, and monica bellucci, and al the other most beautiful and hot girls who have ever lived.
she to me is very special bc she exists in this very cult world, like cult classic movies, punk rock, alternative music, horror movies, and underground cult tv show classics. she's like a cult urban legend. so the mystery, allure, and fantasy of her images and wh

…The Boys Next Door (1985)? It's about two teenage outcasts (Charlie Sheen, Max Caulfield) that go on a weekend killing spree in L.A. It starts out like a teen sex comedy (the first 15 minutes or so) and then gets dark…very dark…in no time…
I have always liked and been fascinated by this film. It doesn't really pull many of its punches and is a hard hitting look at juvenile anti-social behaviour and violence perpetuated due to dark up-bringing's. Its quite chilling actually.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

I agree, it's a great film that never received the recognition it deserves. Caulfield's convincing performance is nothing short of chilling.
