How fluent are you in sign language?

I can read the alphabet, but that’s about the extent of my fluency in sign language. I can’t communicate very well to a deaf person though to destroy the barrier of language between us with my hands though.

The entire alphabet is almost as discombobulating to learn as the sign numbers, so I can relate there, Anna, lol. I just practiced speaking in sign language with one of my neighbors who suffers from an auditory impairment though, and she told me about how I managed to translate other people’s words to her like a fluent interpreter; I had to do it with a sign language chart though, so I did cheat a bit. The amount of isolation that a language barricade between someone who can interpret linguistics through sound waves and those who can but struggle with grasping sign language is rather appalling to this day if nobody carries a type writer.

I’m doing pretty well, thank you for asking. I just woke up, and I’m making some tea, while looking to find a movie to watch on Netflix for later.

I tried to communicate with my cat by flipping her off. She just sit there, staring at me. Sometimes, she just blink and lay down.
I hope a bear throw a book at you, moon at you, and do a tap dance wearing a thong and leather boots. -

As I stated in the other thread, I haven't done any for about 15 years. As a deaf person, I can do verbal communication fairly well.
There are still many more ASL I haven't learned. I still remember what I was taught, though.
It depends on how deaf people want to communicate. Also, people who can't speak can use ASL and written language like text or small board/notebook they bring.
