As you know the sole purpose of the demonic possession is to destroy the host.
But what if the family will not allow it. So the film focuses on the story through the perspective of the demon. It's how a specific demon has a really difficult time doing it.
Add dark humor, suspense, gore, expressive actors, decent visual effects, creepy musical score..the rest is up for interpretation.
