To be frank, even though there are no animals harmed in the filming, it still has impact on those who love animals and it's effective to make people hate the main character. Plus, the character should have done the research as WHAT to sacrifice because it's known that cats are the guardian of the underworld (or some cases, hell). In the past, cats are known to be gods to be worshiped.
Plus, the ending redeemed the movie for me.
I hope a bear throw a book at you, moon at you, and do a tap dance wearing a thong and leather boots.

Wasn't a big fan of the gross out gags in this one, but the effects and performances were great all around. The premise reminds me a lot of Stephen King's Thinner.
