Two great Westerns, one a remake of the other. The perennial question: which do you prefer most?

I think you'll find things are a little more complicated than that.

Rio Bravo edges out its successor for me. Walter Brennan as Stumpy and the presence of the Angie Dickinson subplot makes it the greater film. I'd watch either film over and over though.

Easily Rio Bravo but it's been a time since I watched them.
Did one of them have a scene where John Wayne rides up to confront the villain at their base and then he backs up his horse while keeping the gun pointed? I just remember thinking that part was awkwardly hilarious.

          The sounds familiar…

            Rio Bravo was more fun.

El Dorado is probably my favorite Western of all time. So that one.

Rio Bravo easily, it's one of the few Westerns I actually like…and I really like it.
I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself, I've been searching for an angel in white.
