Pet Sounds is the worst album I've ever heard.

Pet Sounds is a brilliant album.
The composition of God Only Knows, during the end, when different members sing the "God Only Knows What I'd be Without You" in multiple polyphonic vocal melodies with to the same music, and it all blended together so effortlessly, so orchestral, was not common in pop radio music at that time, and the Beatles did nothing like it.
        Never lose your desire.

          multiple polyphonic vocal melodies
No one here believes you know what that means.

Monophonic is when there is ONE vocal or music melody but not both (Happy Birthday to You…). When we sing a song in our car, we're singing monophonic.
Homophonic is your typical song: One main melody supported by rhythm/instruments but that rhythm isn't a melody, only an accompaniment (chord progression).
Polyphonic is multiple melodies at one time:
-The end of Come on Eileen
            -Feeling This by Blink 182
            "Fate fell short this time"
"Are we Alone, can you feel it?"
Both are sung simultaneously (over the same accompaniment).
This starts off monophony, and at 1:48 the polyphony begins: Polyphonies don't have to be vocal; they can be instrumental too.
            Never lose your desire.

              They didn't have to.
They did their own stuff that was awesome.

Why does it have to be one or the other? You're ruining my day.

Both are great in their own ways.
Personally, I'd still pick The Beatles.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

The Beatles were like Elvis. They changed the world.
