Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Invisible Man

I have a copy of "The Invisible Man" that I taped from television about twenty years ago. During the scene where Kemp is listening to the radio and smoking his pipe, dance music can be heard on the radio. When Universal re-released the film on tape, and then later on DVD, the music was changed to some sappy piano music, which is audibly cleaner than the rest of the soundtrack. Why the change? I like the original music better.

Maybe they couln't renew the license for the original dance music for the DVD release so they dropped some canned music in.

You're absolutely right, it was a licensing issue. The commentary on the DVD points this out during that scene, going into detail as to what each piece was and why it was changed.

I was thinking of buying the "Invisible Man Legacy" collection. Is the replacement music used on that?
