Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man

In the beginning when the grave robbers break into the crypt you can see wolf bane in Talbot's tomb. Who put the wolf bane there? I think it might've been Sir John Talbot. He knew at the end of The Wolf Man that his son was a werewolf and was the one that killed him. I'm guessing that Sir John covered up that Larry was the wolf. But they put the wolf bane in there. Why? To make sure he didn't come back? I'm guessing that he came back because he simply wasn't dead. He was probably just in a coma. They expected to find his body decomposed, but Talbot looked like he was asleep as one of the robbers says. It was almost like the wolf bane put him in a suspended animation or something.

He was dead. But apparently in the FMTWM rewrite, to stay dead he needs to stay buried with wolfbane to help keep him from reviving by the light of a full moon. Those poor sops robbed his grave on a full moon and removed the wolfbane so the moonlight would touch him. Bada-boom, one of them is werewolf stew.
That's always how I interpreted it, though.

I had thought that Meleva insisted on putting the wolf bane on him.
