No, I never saw what was so special about this movie and I'm a big fan of the man's work. My top five would be:
      Vertigo
      North By Northwest
      Rear Window
      Psycho
      Rebecca

Absolutely. If anything, given its particular sly subtexts, this film is even more relevant to modern audiences than it was when it originally premiered.

This is one of Hitch's more straightforward and less intriguing psychological thrillers, but it's probably his most well-crafted. So where do I place it? Easily in my top 10. In terms of performances, however, it's in the top 5.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

In answer to the OP's question, and recognizing Hitchcock is widely quoted as having said this is his favorite,
                      No.
I am not even sure it would make the top ten, but let me think about that one.

Wow, no one at all has my top five! I used to think Shadow of a Doubt was the best, but it's only #2:

                            1. North By Northwest (one of the best films of all time)
                            2. Shadow of a Doubt
                            3. Torn Curtain
                            4. Saboteur
                            5. The Paradine Case
