The soundtrack is as beautiful and sinister as the whole mood of the movie.

I agree with everyone here. The haunting music and the strangely beautiful images make this a unique film experience. I especially think of the scene of Christiane holding up the telephone and looking yearningly upwards, her hands seeming to embrace the phone as a lover, as her bewildered fiance's voice asks who is calling. Edith Scob is unforgettable and heartbreaking. I also love the scene when she visits the dogs in the kennel and you can see how tenderly she relates to them and how positively they respond to her.

Can someone help me with the end? I recorded it on DVR and it cutoff before it was over! What happened after she released the dogs from the kennel?
Thank you!

Very well done. I'm not the greatest critic
when it comes to analyzing subtle imagery and such but
the scene with the beautiful soundtrack where she is wandering the house before calling her lover on the phone
is simply a gorgeous, other-worldly Gothic type staging.
