He died. I was hoping he was faking the heart attack and would creep off when Phelan had left, but the scene where he was trying to alert Gary blew that theory out of the water, and he was obviously dead at the end.

The irony is if he'd faked the heart attack to start with he could've then crept off with the evidence without getting all stressy
