Scientology Fan Base? Rifftrax version on Hulu

Two comments. Yes I watched this before I watched the Rifftrax version, so with that said, is this film big with Scientologists or maybe another cult? Because it has over 250 reviews and it's a really boring film. So why do so many love this film? Got to be part of some cult thats my only explanation. Also, it has been riffed on by Rifftrax (the former cast from partially, of MST3K) and it's on Hulu for free. I couldn't even finish it with the riffing though the film is that bad for me.

What the heck is "Rifftrax"??
If its anything like MST3K, that totally wouldn't work for this movie.
While it is slow-paced, its all about the eerie dream-like atmosphere that makes this movie great. Trying to make this into a comedy would not work for this movie.
And as far as the Scientology thing, I have no idea what this movie would have to do with that. I don't really know much about them. -

I've actually watched it a few times through Rifftrax and the guys are pretty darn funny. The movie is actually not bad, I enjoyed it the first time I saw it on TCM, but the Rifftax guys can make anything humorous.

To be perfectly honest, I found this movie to be quite dull the first time I watched it as well. But many times I dislike a film when I first watch it because it was much different than what I expected. Then I am able to give it a second chance knowing what it is like so I'll know what to expect and I do like it. That was the case with this film. It was much more enjoyable the second time around for me.

at timesbut then, most people cant bear 'dull'. others stick it out without getting ants in the pants. and its worth it to watch the entire movie. yes, its uneven at times, maybe 5-10 minutes too long.
fans of movies - FANS, not people who simply like movies, see its value - a creep-fest of eerie ambiance and spooky ghouls trying to retrieve a soul that just escaped the grasp of the realm of the dead.
and, scientology sucks. enjoying a film like this is not irrational obedience like scientology - its appreciation for art, classic horror, and the like. more and more, few understand that. maybe the answers lie in the i-phone you have your nose pressed into.
