Does anyone know if the 1989 Director's Cut of TOM JONES has ever been released on video or DVD, or been aired on TV or cable? It actually runs 7 minutes SHORTER than the original theatrical version, because Tony Richardson trimmed several parts that he thought were unneccesary, thereby tightening the pace. I'd really like to have a copy of this version if it's out there.

The "Director's Cut" was released on VHS. I bought a copy when it came out.
I prefer the original (longer) version and would prefer to have the version that Won the Academy Award.

Yes, it's strange that they'd prefer to release a shorter version instead of a longer one, when the trend nowadays is to release extended cuts. Very faulty logic here.
This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.
