It's worth noting that there were a lot more episodes per season than today's typical network sitcom. At 70 total episodes, it's the equivalent of about three full seasons of a modern series.

And interestingly enough, both The Munsters and The Addams Family had just about the same number of episodes during each show's run. I think The Addams Family had about 1 or 2 episodes less than The Munsters had if I'm not mistaken(please let me know if I'm incorrect on this).

Also both series ran at the same time period from 1964 to 1966.
If either series had returned for a 3rd season it would have been in color instead of black and white because all networks went to color for all their shows starting fall of 1966.
Black and white suited both these series and I don't think it would have captured that spooky/old horror movie quality after a switch to color.
I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

For the record, The Munsters had a total of 70 episodes during its original run; The Addams Family had 64.

I'm surprised its that close. Thought there were a lot more Munsters. Seems like everytime Addams Family came on it was one I'd already seen.

Okay thanks for the info. For some reason I didn't think it was quite that many more episodes that The Munsters had over The Addams Family. Maybe I simply didn't remember that it was in fact 70 and 64, as I know that I had read it before.

I absolutely love this show. I have the DVDS but it streams on Netflix as well. This show would have seemed to cartoonish if it were in color. There is an episode that was in color and it didn't have the same impact. I still laugh every time Herman has one of his tantrums. I'm so glad they had Yvonne DeCarlo, Butch Patrick and Pat Priest because the originals were less than impressive.

"F Troop" is another great comedy that only lasted one season. When you think about it, it often seems that the third season is when a show starts to repeat itself or go downhill.

It's a shame that they didn't get a couple more seasons to chunk out some more episodes. I've seen every episode numerous times and I would kill for more.
