I told you 158 times I cannot stand little notes on my pillow

One of my favorite lines in the movie. I wonder if Oscar had literally kept track of how many times he said it, or if it was just some random number he threw out there, off the top of his head.

It was most likely (I can all but guarentee it) a random number. This was a typical sort of joke for a Neil Simon play or script. Like me saying "I told you a thousand times", when I had only said it twelve times. This was a tactic Simon used to bringvrealism to the character, and something we all could relate to.

Yeah that's my feeling as well(it was most likely random), because Oscar doesn't strike me as someone who would be so anal as to keep track of something like that. I just found it funny that he chose such a specific number.

Some numbers are just funnier than others, as the writers of the Allan Brady Show can tell you (at about the 9 minute mark on this video):

One of the funniest lines in the movie! LOL
I was so embarrassed when I finally realized with Oscar THOUGHT Felix meant when he signed F U. I first saw this movie on TV when I was a kid and I didn't know what F U meant.
I just thought that Oscar was confused!
