Prahant 87 said it best when simply put its a very nice and sweet and funny movie.
Movies can be entertaining. Some have educational value too. Few have a moral lesson.
    I watched
    The Party
when I was a kid. Like many others, it had me rolling on the floor with laughter. I love Sellers. He gave life to the characters he portrayed. He had charm. The funniest scenes were in the actions, like that entire scene where he struggling to hold in his pee and then the complete bathroom scene.
What this film taught me was that I wasnt the only one in the world who felt out of place in a social setting. I was also clumsy and goofy (especially with members of the opposite sex). I also learned that good guys
    do
    finish last.
Smoke me a kipper. Ill be back for breakfast

Well said stargazer1701-1, I would like to add: every expression, every word accent, every gesture of Peter Sellers was a performance, well reharsed and well researched.. from the very beginning!
I worked with a couple of Indian colleagues in the early 80's and I can clearly tell the perfect resemblance.

I've only managed to watch the first half hour or so of the movie so far, and am struggling to get too much out of it. Just some very awkward guy wandering from room to room, obviously not enjoying himself. I wasn't laughing. I was just feeling sorry for him.
I'll give it another go maybe in a month or two. It is always dangerous watching movies which have a big reputation. Now that my expectations have been lowered a bit, I may be pleasantly surprised next time.

So do you wait until the closing credits before you decide whether you've enjoyed watching something??
I stopped watching the movie due to other reasons (the joys of having a young family). As I said, I still want to try to watch the rest of the movie, but I haven't been enthralled by what I have seen so far.

If you think that this is the worst film ever I would say you probably haven't seen a lot of films.

                    hilarious
A thread I started 10 years ago is still getting comments.
