Dude, this is no trolling effort. This film is the most boring, badly shot unamusing waste of film ever. I cant believe you like it. I can only assume you have the taste of a dung beetle combined with the intelligence of a amoeba.
So many deluded people have replied to this thread that next time the powers that be decide to inflict this piece of trash on the airwaves i will watch it again - for as long as i can stand it.
Only, I reserve the right to switch off at any given point if I feel my boredom levels reaching critical. Unfortunately unlike many respondees here I need more stimulation to be amused than watching proverbial paint dry.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to see a thread with this title under the page for "THE PARTY", of all films. It's just funny because I had the totally opposite reaction-I think this is one of the funniest and most inventive comedies I've ever seen. I won't go in to all the details, but Peter Sellers' brilliant performance alone is enough for me.
It's got that great Blake Edwards style-high sophisticated/slightly British/early 60s type comedy, mixed with more vulgar type comedy. Plus a really beautiful song by Henry Mancini (Sellers' reaction shots, politely listening to the singer while desperately trying to find the bathroom, are hilarious).
By the way, this may have the single best opening sequence in a film, ever.
            Matt Barry

no. far from it. it is a comedy. some of it is obvious, other parts are more subtle. in addition the film is a dig at the superficiality of the entertainment industry. Hrundi asks pretty crazy at times but he and the girl are the only sane and decent people there.

this movie was F-ing hilarious. I didn't have high hopes going on for some reason, maybe I thought it wouldn't stand the test of time (I just watched it a few months ago), but it is one of the funniest movies I have seen. Shame on me for doubting the master, Peter Sellers

Still at this after three years! And apparently with naught a sign of personal growth. It's one thing to simply be unfond of a film, but to resort to the idiotic overused hyperbole of your subject title, to be so entirely closed-minded toward the valid suggestions of others (such as sticking with more than 20 darned minutes of a film) in light of your piss poor criticisms, AND to doubt the comedic acting chops of Peter Sellers??
Right, step away from those paint fumes you so seem to love, junior. Possibly get on ritalin while you're at it.

I'm a Sellers fan and I love the Pink Panther movies along with Dr. Strangelove and Being There, but I must agree with you, The Party was one hell of a boring movie. I was very disappointed because I had heard good things about the film. With Blake Edwards as the director and Sellers in the leading role, I was expecting a lot from this movie but soon realized my expectations were not going to be fulfilled.
The most boring movie I have seen in years, but not the most boring movie ever. I'm actually quite annoyed I didn't enjoy this movie, but that's happens sometimes. 2/10

I recall this film as being witless and boring in 1968 - in fact, we got up and left. I taped it a few days ago so I could attempt to re-watch it and see if it's as bad as I remembered - the only thing I recall from 1968 is Sellers' search for the bathroom (I think we left when he found it) - haven't gotten to that yet, but yes indeed, the film is still witless and boring, other than the opening sequence which spoofs Sam Jaffe and GUNGA DIN.
