He didn't commit suicide. I can't remember the exact phrasing, but it was something like "this time, he chose not to run." So he was shot.

He just did not try to run from German-gunner, not like in the 1st execution.He might no longer esteem that his activity was worth running for his life and not be able to look for someone rescures himself, More or less, I would say that he gave up all hope, even if it was not commit suicide.
