The bold musical score, with jazzy vocals and trumpets is what set this film apart. Along with the montage of brown-hued photographs popping up from time to time,it transformed a run-of-the-mill western into a timeless masterpiece. It wasn't a movie; it was an event. In 1969, America was experiencing a time of cultural renaissance where creativity in music and entertainment pushed boundaries. In 2015, we have the oppositemusic is either disgusting or cookie cutter and films are either CGI phoniness or just stupid, for the most part.

All true. If this movie were made today, Butch and Sundance would be wearing capes; it seems the only things coming out of Hollywood these days are hackneyed, cartoonish super-hero flicks. Over. And over. And over.

Pretty sure the music won some awards. The film was a huge hit, and well-deserved it was. Newman and Redford were brilliant and the supporting cast all shone brightly.
Great white sharks are attracted to death metal music.
