Trivia: On Oprah yesterday, Lisa Presley allowed the Oprah show to go into a secret room at Graceland where no one has been allowed except family. It contains pristine movie posters, trademark sunglasses, tons of photographs, and you must wear gloves to handle anything. Here's a kick: Lisa Marie is related to Oprah as a cousin 13th removed, Oprah has a Presley in her family history!

Although I can't say for sure I believe Elvis' reply was in lieu of a song request from Baheega, perhaps a tune not in his current repertoire and thus not rehearsed for the show, hence his replying "Sorry we can't do that". By the way, for the record, if anyone missed the other remark while signing the drawing, he says "It looks more like Engelbert Humperdinck!"
Elvis is NOT dead. He just passed on to a better place!

I always wondered why he said that too
            Interesting responses
Elvis never refused to give an autograph and he NEVER charged for them either!
I think its more likely that the woman wanted Elvis to pose for a picture with her which would have been a bit awkward with him on the stage?

Elvis might never have charged for an autograph! Colonel Parker did charge for an elvis autograph though!

                Yeah, that bugged me forever,too.
He comes over, says "What have you got there?", leans down.
He holds up her drawing, and says, "It looks like Englebert Humperdinck!"
He asks if she did those, and she says yes. He autographs one for her, and that's when he asks her, "Baheega? That's your name?" She says yes. Then, he says, "I take this one?" pointing to the second, unsigned one. And she says yes.
She says, "Do you like it?", and he says "Yes. I like it very much."
Then, as he's getting up, she says something to him (that ever-so-eternal mystery), and he says, "No,no. I can't do that. I'm sorry."
Then, he takes the picture over and hands it to the guys in back of the band. Than, he says, "Don't worry, it's coming back.", and then he walks back and hands her her pen back.
Then, he proceeds with another song.
It kills me,too, what she asked him that he was being so sweet and attentive to her and then suddeny got so serious and told her no about. Oh well, I guess she just pushed her luck too hard. It could have been any crazy thing really.
She may have asked him to go out, or come to her house, or sing at her wedding, or marry her,or any crazy such thing. I'm sure he heard it all at one time or another.

I have always thought that she requested that Elvis sing a song for her. I'm just guessing though. If you listen to disc 3 (I think) of the Elvis Live In Las Vegas 4 CD set he refuses someone's song request on there. He says, quite seriously, "I CAN'T (emphasis on the "can't") do that, Man! I don't have it on the list tonight."
