This is not necessarily meant as a judgement on the intrinsic quality of this film (which I'm still trying to formulate) but whoever would voluntarily subject themselves for a second time (or God forbid more than that) to this highly unpleasant piece of celluloid has imo serious problems.

A great many people do. Go back to your Transformers films.

i just seen it in for the 2nd time on April 11th (but was my first time seeing it in HD) and it held pretty steady for me as i still like it but not to any higher degree or anything.
6.5-7/10 (a mild thumbs up) ; i think it's current 7.6/10 average is a bit high for the movie personally as i think a high 6's would be about right for it. maybe low 7's at the most.

When I first saw this film on the BBC some 20 years ago I was of the same opinion. But since then I have watched it numerous times. True Jack appears to have no redeemable features, but the more you watch it the more you start to see the many layers of the film. It's made all the more tragic knowing that all Jack does is for nought and that anyone who has anything to do with Jack ends up either dead or badly beaten. There is just something about the brutal reality of this film that gets under your skin. Trust me in 20 years time you'll still be thinking, watching and recommending this violent and tragic film, while dross like Transformers would have been long forgotten.

Grow the fck up, seriously. Sorry that there are people with enough maturity to handle films about amoral/immoral characters. A number of them are among the all time greats of cinema: The Godfather I+II, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Chinatown, Peeping Tom, Rope, etc. If you don't want to watch those kind of films, fine. Don't feel you're on some moral high ground however for doing so.
