I used a gift card to order it from Bestbuy, I think if you wait there's some kind of deluxe edition connected to the film, but there wasn't anything more than a relase date on the site.
Btw, go it in like 3 days from BB, that was with normal shipping!

          I saw it on Watch-movies-online.net
I've watched a lot of old films on there, before I end up buying them. Save me a ton of money too, since some of those flicks are god awful"It's Alive" anyone?

I won't be watching it (the "It's Alive" remake). I could barely make it through the original it was so boring. The funny thing is that I'm old enough to remember when it came out the second time and really really wanted to see it, but my parents refused to take me. In retrospect, I'm glad
I'm looking forward to seeing this remake. I very much liked the original version The original was great!

Actually, it looks like they're going to release a BLU-RAY version of the film (or so I hear)! I don't know when it's coming out, but it'll definitely be on my shelf!
In the meantime, there's also a contest going on right now over at Dread Central where they're giving away a bunch of Romero movies on DVD, including the original version of "The Crazies"; you might want to try and snag that as well:

Is it really worth the expense to get a film like this on Blu-Ray? I'm not denigrating The Crazies (I love the film), but I'm just curious how much of an improvement will there actually be for a film that was shot almost 40 years ago on an ultra low-budget? I think Blu-Ray is a great step up for all films made within the last 10 years or so, ones that are already being transferred digitally, but I feel very skeptical about needing to replace every film (especially ones like this) I own in a newer upgrade format. Of course, if money is no object for you, then you have no objections to doing this at all

Looking to trade films with other DVD collectorsespecially Region 2 and OopsPM me if interested!

First off, it turns out I was wrong - apparently the new Blu-Ray version just came out YESTERDAY! So I'll definitely be picking that up tonight, so I can watch it before catching the new "Crazies" at the theater this Friday.
As for the purchase, getting the original "Crazies" on Blu-Ray is worth it to me if for no other reason than to sit it on the shelf right next to it's remake counterpart, which seems like the kind of film you WOULD definitely want on Blu-Ray. Plus, a lot of times the advantage in Blu-Rays isn't just the picture quality, but the kind of stuff they're able to do with the special features. Stuff like the BD-Live screening Zach Snyder did on the "Watchmen" Blu-Ray; that kind of thing. Not all studios are taking advantage of those types of "pushing the envelope" extras with their Blu-rays just yet, but you'll see it more and more; that's totally worth it to me.
