Am I the only one who thinks the movies a bit boring after the huge Earthquake? Don't get me wrong it's a great movie but after the huge quake I personally thinks it's a bit boring except for the aftershock and dam breaking.
    Anyone with me??

I think that Earthquake is a boring movie
      before
      and
      after
the huge quake. I too like the film and think that the aftershock and dam bursting are both good entertainment.
It's just, for me, difficult to care about the wealthy, privileged characters.
Love the special visual effects tho.

        agreed, not sympathetic characters.

The two leads, Heston and Gardner, were at each other's throats for the first part of the film. That was the point, because by the end, we get an emotional impact of an ending due to the disaster bringing them together.
          How could this get missed?
Plus there were many other characters in the film that rounded it out and showed different walks of life and circumstances.

After the quake, what was so boring to you? We saw sequences of survivors attempting to cope and escape some of the tricky predicaments they were in. I also thought it had an emotional impactful ending involving Heston and Gardner's characters. This film needs to be seen on the big screen in sensurround. That is what is was designed for. The look of the film might have dated, not the predicament or thematic content. This was a big spectacle in 74' and as a child, it scared the bejesus out of me and the friends I was with.

I didn't find it boring, before or after the quake. It actually moves pretty quickly. I felt The Towering Inferno, which is the better film, was way over bloated. It could easily have had, an hour trimmed, from it's running time.

I have commented about this on another post, regarding the runtime of The Towering Inferno. It has been many moons since I saw it and I didn't get to see it at the cinema when first released and only saw it about 7 yrs later on a re-release. I thought it was a bit flat in spots and if I watched Earthquake and Towering Inferno back to back, I would probably still see Earthquake as the more enjoyable and even better experience.
As for disaster films, my favorite is The Poseidon Adventure-72' and I think this is far superior to both EQ and TTI.

It's a 1974 movie of course people born after 1980 are going to find the movie boring.

Loved all the post-quake scenes with Marjoe Gortner going totally bugfuck crazy nuts. My all-time favorite moment is when Gortner shoots the asshole looters dead after he calls them a bunch of fags. That spells entertainment with a big fat capital "E" to me.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
