In real life he was only 7 years older than she was. I think that is very poor casting.She looked more like she should have been his wife.

I remember my father mentioning something like this, he told me Ava might actually be older than her father, but as you mentioned, the difference is 7 years. Still ridiculous casting.

yup, the biggest mistake of this movie. I have seen this movie many times and again last night on TV (where the hell is the blu-ray release???).
Yes, she looks and she is to old to be his daughter.
My theory for this movie: maybe Lorne Greens character has adopted her when he was 20 years old. 20 years minus 7 years (difference) makes to her that she was 13 then.

You think that was bad, I thought the casting of Angela Lansbury to be Lawrence Harvey's mother in "The Manchurian Candidate" was also weird!

Yes! Absolutely ludicrous that Ava Gardner was cast as Lorne Green's daughter! It's so obvious it's distracting to the story. Someone should have had the stones to tell "Miss" Gardner she was not (cough) "right" for the role.

Ava also looked 10 years older than her real age due to all the boozing & smoking. Women her age now look ten times better.

Yeah, Ava Gardner was way too old to be playing Lorne Greene's daughter in this film.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
