I have it on my NAS drive, so I can watch it any time I want, but this is a chance to enjoy it on the big screen with a full audience. If you don't get anything extra from the theater experience, then that's cool, but to me it's on a whole different level. Especially being there with 100 other people who also love this movie. The atmosphere will be electric. Tix were only $12.50 each.

Absolutely, I'm just a little jealous that the October showing won't be anywhere near my city!
Is there a website with more details that you know of, please?

I'm going because, while I've seen this movie more times than I can recall, I never managed to see it on the big screen. And that makes a major difference.

Did anyone get to see the Mel Brooks live portion? They didn't show it at my theater. It just went straight into the movie.
Oh well. At least I got to see Blazing Saddles, Willy Wonka and Young Frankenstein in theaters this year. My own little send-off to Gene Wilder. -

The Mel Brooks live section was worth it just to see Mel Brooks walking around talking. He is really sharp and moves around well for being 90.
Pretty much the live section started outside 20th Century Fox soundstage #5. Brooks talked briefly about the soundstage and what movies and shows were filmed there. Including Young Frankenstein.
He then started walking down the street. Stopping to talk about a street next to the soundstage named after him. And then farther down talking about a big side of the building YF mural. And he made a Hitler joke.
He keeps walking before getting to a theater playing the movie. He goes in the lobby, makes a joke about the security guards there, plugs his YF book before going in the theater packed with people. He sits on the stage and talks about the movie for a few minutes and then says his thank yous and goes.
All in all it was a ok live segment. Brooks got off track often (although always entertaining) and did not give any real info that was not really known or played on the preshow slides. He did talk about the cast. He was going to (it seemed) go on a little run about Gene Wilder near the beginning but got off track and never really went back to it.
I think I would of preferred pretaped with a little more substance but this was not a documentary, it was a commercial for his book, and in that aspect it made me interested.
And as a Mel Brooks fan I enjoyed seeing him, just to see him.

Thanks for the rundown of Mel Brook's intro. He also made a couple of joke's about Marty Feldman, "The only way you could hide from his was put your nose to his nose!"

I've seen it a hundred times, own the DVD and watch it every October. Last night was my first time seeing it on the big screen though. That movie never gets old. The Mel Brooks bit at the beginning was pretty awesome too.
