Its funny that even the two or three "lesser" or worst episodes of the FT series are a billion times better than the Best episodes of "Modern Family" or "Big Bang Theory" or whatever other crap passes for prime-time comedy these days.
I'm not prude, and I do not mind vulgar humor (if it is done with some smarts) but what ever happened to the clever writing of the likes that went into a series like this? Now it seems like all comedy today is either crude or incredibly lame and childish. There is no more tasteful, clean, clever comedy for adults. -

thank you and thank you! I can't stand the BBT and I can barely stand MF.
and the sad thing is this PC CRAP!

it was ONE racial slur that a: you can hardly recognize since Major Gowen mumbles it all times he says it. and b: all the black hoods say it in general conversation now.
so what is the problem? get over it or stop using it.
Oh God. Fortune

Completely agree about the sorry quality of most comedy these days. The last decent show was Seinfeld and that was quite a while ago. Having said that, Fawlty Towers is a very high standard, so much so that even John Cleese and Connie Booth didn't think they could continue with it and keep it at that level. There's so much going on in every episode that even though I've seen all of them dozens of times I still discover little things that I missed on previous viewings.
As far as the PC nonsense, it's infuriating. Good writers probably look around at the landscape today and say to themselves, " Why should I even bother? I'll probably just get into trouble." It's so damn stupid.
