I guess i can appreciate kubrick's attention to detail

But this is one boring film. The long, drawn-out sequences that work so well to build depth to 2001 and The Shining serve only to emphasize how utterly pointless it was to cast Ryan O'Neal in the lead role. An accomplished actor could have worked miracles with those scenes just by using his facial expressions. O'Neal's utterly unconvincing performance drags down everything else in the film. Maybe they should have cast Don Knotts.
