I saw this as a kid in the movies, maybe when I was 12? I had seen the previous major blockbusters up to then, Jaws and Star Wars. I enjoyed this movie, but as a kid, and high off the Star Wars excitement, and I was a bit bored. It did make me think, though, and it is always something that I remember experiencing fondly.
Having said that, having watched it many times as an adult I wonder how I could have ever thought it was boring. It's brilliant on so many levels, scripting, acting, effects. it's subtle when it needs to be, which was likely lost on me as a kid.
Thank goodness for cable, lolI watch it every single time it's on! -
